Asia’s First Co-Production <Rigoletto> Ends in Triumph

" Rigoletto Scores 96% Overall Attendance in Daegu "

Daegu Opera House concluded its co-production of Rigoletto with the National Centre for the Performing Arts, China on April 24–25, marking the work’s Asian premiere. First unveiled in Daegu, the production achieved a 96% occupancy rate, with the final performance sold out. Under the direction of Davide Livermore and Alessandra Premoli, the staging integrated scenography, lighting, costume, and media into a cohesive visual language. The visual system, developed by Italian video design company D-WOK dissolved the boundary between physical stage and projected space. Leading singers including Leon Kim, Dong-hwan Lee, Jun-ho You, and Zhang Wenqin commanded the stage. This ambitious production was made possible through the support of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Korea and the Korea Foundation for International Cultural Exchange.

Rigoletto marks the final staging at Daegu Opera House’s main stage before its May renovation.

Accordingly, the Daegu International Opera Festival will be held across venues throughout the city.

Rigoletto runs again in National Centre for the Performing Arts, China from September 16 to 20.
