It was performed in the Black Box Theater at the Opera House, featuring a play and main opera arias. |

3️⃣ READY FOR 2025 Saaremaa Opera Festival |
|
|
Daegu Opera House will participate in Saaremaa Opera Festival, hosted by Eesti Kontsert in Tallinn, in July 2025. Both Tallinn and Daegu are UNESCO Creative Cities of Music, actively engaging in international exchanges. Kab Gun Chung, the Intendant and Artistic Director of Daegu Opera House, visited as a guest for the 2024 Saaremaa Opera Festival as a field trip and gave an interview. Mr. Chung emphasized his hope to introduce Korean art to Estonian and European opera enthusiasts.

At the 2025 Saaremaa Opera Festival, the following Operas will be performed: Gluck's <Orfeo ed Euridice>, Puccini's <Madama Butterfly>, and <Sim Tjong>, a Korean opera by the composer Isang Yun.
Especially, <Sim Tjong> was commissioned by the German government for the opening ceremony of the 1972 Munich Olympics. and it has been praised for "revealing the mysterious spiritual world of Asia through its profound sound and meticulously crafted stage design." It leaves a deep impression with its harmonious blend of traditional Korean fairy tales and contemporary music. |

Additionally, the festival will feature two gala concerts: Korean dance Gala and Opera Gala. Mr. Chung stated, "The aesthetics of our productions are highly traditional, ensuring the highest quality performances. We have developed sets and costumes that faithfully convey historical realities as much as possible. On the other hand, we utilize all the possibilities of contemporary media art on stage to deepen the emotional impact and overall quality of the works."
