Comunale Theater of Ferrara & Daegu Opera House Strengthen Cultural Ties Again
Ferrara and Daegu are strengthening their cultural ties through Andrea Chénierwhich istheir 4th co-production since 2021. Featuring a grand stage design and innovative direction of Daegu Opera House, the production had its success in Ferrara on February 28 and March 2.
This production was directed by Kim Ji-young, conducted by Marcello Mottadelli,
Following Andrea Chénier, Daegu delegations including intendant Chung met with Ferrara’s Deputy Mayor(Alan Fabrri) and UNESCO Creative Cities of Music representatives from Bolzano(Sabrina Michielli) , Pesaro(Daniele Vimini), and Bologna(Anna Lisa Boni), Italy to discuss cultural cooperation.
On March 4, they visited the UCCN headquarters in Paris to promote Daegu’s cultural policies and confirmed their participation in the Daegu Global Forum in October 2025.

Daegu Opera House has showed Amopera, a contemporary opera concert on March 22 and 23
through dynamic staging with orchestra members running, colliding, and embracing on stage.
AMOPERA is ameta-operathat reconstructs the form of opera through montage, adaptation and focusing.

JULY : The Sensation of K-OPERA Heritage in Estonia
Daegu Opera House will be the main theatre guest at the 2025 Saaremaa Opera Festival, hosted by Eesti Kontsert in Estonia from July 22-27. This milestone reflects the strong bond between Daegu and Tallinn as UNESCO Creative Cities of Music. DOH productions include Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice, Puccini’s Madama Butterfly, Sim Tjong, a Korean opera by Isang Yun, and 2 gala concerts: Korean Dance Gala & Opera Gala.
